Amazon flexes retail muscle with physical clothing store – TechCrunch
Signaling its ambitions to make a dent in the apparel market, Amazon today opened its first physical clothing store, Amazon Style, in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Offering a twist on the traditional experience, visitors to the Glendale, California shop at The Americana At Brand use an app to scan codes on displayed items from Steve Madden, Levi's, Lacoste and other brands to send them directly to a fitting room or pickup counter. As TechCrunch previously reported, Amazon Style features hundreds of brands chosen by "fashion creators" and "feedback provided by millions of customers shopping on Amazon.com." Scanning the QR code next to an item pops up a selector for sizes and colors, as well as details such as customer ratings and adds the item to a list for later perusing. Amazon Style doesn't use the cashierless "Just Walk Out" tech found in Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods locations, instead opting for Amazon's controversial Amazon One palm recognition service.

Your Amazon Echo Look Is Officially Dead But You Can Score A Sweet Freebie For Your Trouble
The Amazon Echo Look camera is a standalone device that leveraged machine learning and artificial intelligence to give users fashion advice, making it easier to get dressed in the morning. Amazon has announced via an email sent out to owners of the Echo Look that the camera and its app will no longer function after July 24, 2020. The good news is that Amazon is offering a free Echo Show 5 to owners of the defunct device. The free product should go a long way to making Look owners feel better about Amazon killing their product, but not offering refunds. As for how the Echo Show 5 will replace fashion advice provided by the Look, Amazon says that it has been integrating features from the Look into the Amazon Shopping app and other Alexa-enabled devices.

Many will be flocking to the UK capital this week – all in the name of fashion. London Fashion Week is making a return on Friday, with fashionistas from all around the world gathering in celebration of fashion, community, diversity and creativity. In light of this, I wanted to take a look at the evolution of the fashion industry and how technology is transforming the sector at a pace faster than ever before. Today, fashion leaders are merging form and function to make wearables more stylish and, well, wearable.
Amazon is giving away $25 gift cards to anyone who agrees to let the firm 3D scan their entire body
Amazon is offering up $25 gift cards in exchange for 3D scans of your body. The internet giant is currently conducting a study at its New York office as part of Amazon Body Labs that seeks to'learn about diversity among body shapes,' according to a listing, which was first spotted by Mashable. Participants who set up a 30-minute appointment will be asked to take a survey and agree to have 3D scans, photos and videos taken of them. The move comes as Amazon has faced privacy concerns around its collection of data from Echo devices, as well as the deployment of its controversial facial recognition software. Use Artificial Intelligence To Pick Your Outfits
It can be one of the most frustrating parts of waking up and getting ready in the morning: deciding what to wear. Amazon is trying to help with their Echo Look which uses alexa to help you pick out your clothes. But is the $99.99 product worth it? To help find out, we enlsted the help of fashionista Aldea. She likes that the Echo Look will help cataloging your clothes by taking a picture of your outfit every day.
Step up your fashion sense with the Amazon Echo Look for 50% off
When it comes to fashion, we can all use a little help. Of course, having a personal stylist is the dream, but the next-best thing is Amazon's Echo Look. The Echo Look snaps selfies at your command. Its voice-controlled selfie cam takes full-body shots and short videos so you can see how your outfit look from all angles. In our testing, the images were excellent even in low light conditions.
Do robots dream of Prada? How artificial intelligence is reprogramming fashion
Who do you turn to when you can't decide what to wear? But soon, perhaps, it will be none of the above. Instead, you will try on an outfit, turn to a wall-mounted, five megapixel camera with front lighting and dual-antennae wifi connectivity, ask, "Alexa, how do I look?" and within a few seconds the 1.6 watt speaker will deliver the data-driven, empirically-founded assessment. The Echo Look is Amazon's first "style assistant", recently rolled out across the US after an invite-only soft launch. No UK launch date is set, but the technology – which analyses your outfit through a combination of algorithms and (human) "fashion specialists" – is set to revolutionise what technology means to style.

Amazon Echo Look review: This Alexa manifestation is great for taking selfies, but you can't trust its fashion sense
Alicia Silverstone's bubble-headed Cher, from the 1995 comedy Clueless, would go gonzo over Amazon's hands-free camera, the Echo Look. She said in the film: "I don't rely on mirrors, so I always take Polaroids." That girl knew a mirror distorts your image, but a picture--or, better yet, a video clip--gives you a pretty good idea of how your clothing looks to other people. The Echo Look is a $200 voice-activated camera that snaps full-body photos and six-second video clips of your daily looks. It comes with a companion app that does two things: It tracks what you wear each day, and it uses that information to offer up fashion advice (including suggestions of complementary togs you can buy from Amazon). Announced in April 2017, but until recently available for purchase only by invitation, the Look is a significant departure from the rest of the Echo lineup.
